Right or Wrong?
When faced with a difficult problem we often want to run away from the deision as if it will some how disapear. I am no different. It is important to make our own decisions to know we are growing and becoming responsible. Many factors lead into making a decision. I would consider myself to be a moral absolutist because I believe their is a right and wrong to every decision that we make. Deciding to murder someone would be a definate wrong decision. Each decision making process is different depending on the individual.
When I am faced with a decision my first thought goes to my family. Would they be proud, is this what they would do? Many thoughts begin to race. Sometimes it is hard to make a decision solely based on what you believe to be right and wrong when you consider your family and their approval. The morals that I have been taught by my family remind me to make positive decisions. As teenagers we are often forced to make decisions about drugs. This is a decision where my family would be constantly in my mind. I have chosen not to participate in drugs because I know the disapointment and pain it would bring my family. Disaproval from my family would shame myself and I could never imagine causing my parents such pain.
Previous experiences often come to my mind when faced with decisions. Young adults often have many previous experiences to consider when making a decision. If you have been lied to before you might decide to not trust people who do not have an honest reutation. When making a decision I also try to consider my safety. When we are young we do not think anything bad could ever happen to us, but situations occur in an instant that we could never imagine. Making the decision to be safe and not drink and drive is an important reason to consider your safety.
After I think upon things that affect my decision I make my decision. It is important to me that I stand by my decision and do not change my mind based on the opinion that anyone else has made, or whether or not they think I am wrong.
My decision making process is simple, I think of how if affects others along with my own opinion then I make and stand by my decision. There is not a right nor wrong way to make a decision, it is all based on what makes the individual feel comfortable with the decision that they make.
